Description

In November 2016, on the 50th anniversary of Barbados’ independence, Jill Walker was chosen as one of 50 Jubilee Honourees for outstanding work in recording the unique architecture and culture of Barbados.

Since settling in Barbados in the 1950s, Jill has been painting her colourful surroundings, becoming best known for her local scenes and attractive giftware designs. Although now retired, at 90 years old she still paints, and is delighted to have seen the continuation of her life’s passion in her youngest daughter Sue Trew and granddaughter, Holly. All three generations sell their art and designs in the Best of Barbados Gift Shops founded by Jill and her architect husband Jimmy in 1975.

The beautiful illustrations featured in this journal represent over 50 years of Jill Walker’s work and clearly reflect this gifted ar tist’s deep love for Barbados and its people.
